10LEC6 Share Hypnotic New Single ‘TELE YA’ Ahead of Incoming Album ‘Ako Akas’

10LEC6 are back with ‘TELE YA’, a hypnotic new single that offers another glimpse into their forthcoming album Ako Akas, arriving October 9 via Grand Musique.

Built around abyssal basslines, hypnotic percussion and a berimbau that pulls the track deep into trance territory, ‘TELE YA’ finds the Paris-based collective bending dancehall, electronic music and Afro-diasporic rhythms into something entirely their own.

Fronted by Nicole’s vocals in Bulu, a language spoken in southern Cameroon, the track takes listeners on a journey through towns across Cameroon and the Ebolowa region — home to the sacred mountain Akos Akas, which gives the forthcoming album its name.

Ako Akas takes inspiration from the legend of the mountain: a place you are not supposed to walk around, with those who attempt it said to disappear into an endless dance. It’s an idea that runs through the record, with 10LEC6 creating music where language, rhythm and sound are constantly shifting and mutating.

The new single also arrives with remixes from Gavsborg, who delivers a post-dancehall and dub rework rooted in the Equiknoxx production tradition. The album itself features an exclusive dub version created with acclaimed mixing engineer Julien Delfaud.

Across Ako Akas, 10LEC6 move freely through techno, gospel, footwork, UK bass, Afro-pop, punk-funk and Afro-tech, refusing to settle into any one genre. Built from jams reworked in FL Studio, the record transforms voices, percussion and electronic textures into an unpredictable, continuously moving whole.

It marks another chapter for a collective whose history has already taken in a Rough Trade Counter Culture selection, an appearance in Skins, a tour alongside The Gossip and several different incarnations since their earlier release Bone Bame on Ed Banger.

Now, with Ako Akas on the horizon, 10LEC6 are pushing that restless spirit further than ever.
