The Clockworks Return With Soaring New Single ‘Best Days’

Galway-born, London-based four-piece The Clockworks are back with a widescreen new single, ‘Best Days’, out now on V2 Records. The track ushers in a fresh chapter for the band—equal parts cinematic and gut-punch emotional—delivering a slow-burn intensity that swells into raw, heartfelt drama.

Self-produced by guitarist Sean Connelly, ‘Best Days’ began as a rough sketch last year before evolving into what frontman James McGregor calls “a labour of love that almost didn’t make it.” Its lyrics explore the lies we tell ourselves to cling to a destructive relationship, a theme underscored by the band’s trademark mix of grit and grandeur.

The Clockworks—whose acclaimed debut album Exit Strategy (2023) earned praise from BBC 6Music and Radio 1—are no strangers to ambition. Their sound draws unlikely parallels between Daft Punk, Pixies, and even Ennio Morricone, with cinematic influences and literary references shaping their restless, inventive approach.

Adding to the excitement, the band have been confirmed as special guests for Johnny Marr’s European tour kicking off next month. Dates include Paris, Berlin, Milan, and Copenhagen, marking another milestone for a group already known for electrifying sets at Rock Werchter, Eurosonic, and Electric Picnic.

‘Best Days’ is streaming now alongside its atmospheric new video—evidence that The Clockworks are sharpening their edge and widening their horizons.
