SPOT Festival 2026 unveils 250+ artists as Aarhus transforms into Nordic music capital

Denmark’s leading new music showcase, SPOT Festival, has unveiled a sprawling 2026 programme featuring more than 250 emerging artists — cementing its reputation as one of Europe’s most vital discovery platforms.

Taking over Aarhus on 1–2 May, the festival will once again transform Denmark’s second city into a dense, city-wide hub of new music, with performances spread across 20+ venues — from concert halls and parks to bowling alleys and rooftop spaces.

At its core, SPOT remains a festival built on discovery. This year’s lineup pulls together a vast cross-section of talent from Denmark and across the Nordics, spotlighting the next wave of artists poised to break beyond their local scenes. Among the names leading the charge are Danish acts 100%WET, Carlina de Place, shinyhunt and Zoumer, alongside Norway’s Girl Group and Musti, Iceland’s RAKEL, Sweden’s Olga Myko and Faroese rapper Marius DC — who will make his first-ever performance in Denmark following standout appearances across Europe’s showcase circuit.

The breadth of the lineup reflects SPOT’s uniquely collaborative curation model. Each year, the festival works closely with key tastemakers and organisations — including Music Export Denmark, Musicboard Berlin, Westside Music Sweden and grassroots initiatives like Aarhus Volume and SheCanPlay — to assemble a programme that spans genres, scenes and perspectives.

The result is a lineup that moves seamlessly from punk and indie rock to hip-hop and experimental sounds. Riot grrrl-inspired trio Ponny bring raw punk energy, while Michael Williams represents the new Nordic hip-hop wave. Elsewhere, Spawner’s indie-folk textures and Slush Eyes’ neon-tinted alt-pop further underline the festival’s genre-blurring identity.

Beyond the music, SPOT 2026 will again host SPOT+, its parallel industry conference running from 30 April to 2 May. Designed as a key meeting point for international music professionals, the programme will feature panels, workshops and networking events aimed at shaping the future of the industry.

Since its launch in 1994, SPOT Festival has built a reputation as a launchpad for Nordic talent — a place where artists move from grassroots buzz to international recognition. In an era increasingly dominated by algorithms, its human-led, community-driven approach feels more essential than ever.

Or, as Clash Magazine put it: “the left-of-centre shake-up the algorithm has been crying out for.”

With more names still to be announced and final tickets on sale now, SPOT Festival 2026 looks set to once again turn Aarhus into the epicentre of what’s next in music.
