Sean Solomon questions the “dream” on new single ‘Finish Line’ ahead of debut album

Multidisciplinary artist Sean Solomon has shared new single ‘Finish Line’, the latest preview of his debut album The World Is Not Good Enough, arriving this Friday.

Built around a deceptively simple premise, ‘Finish Line’ tackles the illusion of “making it” — inspired by Solomon’s own experiences working in animation, where near-breakthrough moments repeatedly slipped away. “I thought I saw the finish line but I was on a treadmill the whole time,” he says, capturing the track’s central tension between ambition and reality.

While rooted in personal frustration, the song expands into something more universal — reflecting on rejection, instability and the sense that hard work doesn’t always lead to reward. It’s a theme that runs throughout the upcoming record, which Solomon describes as coming from a place of “childlike expectations” colliding with the real world.

The release follows growing attention around Solomon’s solo project, particularly after the viral success of ‘Car Crash’. Previously known for his work in bands Moaning and Moses Campbell, as well as animation collaborations with Run the Jewels and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Solomon now brings all sides of his creativity together into one cohesive vision.

Produced by Jarvis Taveniere, the album blends indie-folk textures with introspective songwriting, while longtime collaborator Shannon Lay contributes backing vocals and guitar.

True to his multidisciplinary roots, Solomon has also hand-drawn the album artwork in the style of Richard Scarry, and continues to create his own animated visuals — even incorporating them into live shows via a vintage TV setup.

With The World Is Not Good Enough, Solomon delivers a debut that feels both deeply personal and quietly expansive — where innocence, anxiety and creativity collide in equal measure.
