Mina My Captures Growing Pains and Big Feelings on Debut EP The Mall Experiment

ree

Rising indie-rock talent Mina My today shares her much-anticipated debut EP, The Mall Experiment, via APOLLO Distribution—a vibrant and vulnerable six-track collection exploring love, identity, and the messy beauty of growing up.

Written during her three years at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, the EP is steeped in nostalgia and self-discovery. From the aching honesty of “I won’t say it (I love you)” to the shimmering hooks of “Play It Cool” and the wistful “Mall Song,” Mina My moves effortlessly between delicate acoustic moments and electrified alt-pop anthems. Her songwriting—equal parts journal entry and emotional catharsis—delivers infectious melodies wrapped in raw emotion.

“The songs from my EP live in many different places: an atmospheric empty shopping mall, inside a spinning washing machine, at a date in a dysfunctional relationship,” Mina explains. “After writing Mall Song, I was inspired by the idea of false memories—like remembering being lost in a mall as a kid—and that became the name of the EP.”

Drawing inspiration from girl in red, Orla Gartland, and Sløtface, Mina My’s sound feels familiar yet undeniably her own—blending indie-rock grit, alt-pop polish, and lyrical vulnerability. Her recent performances at Stavanger’s Mablis Festival and Liverpool’s local circuit have already marked her as one of Norway’s most exciting emerging voices.

The Mall Experiment is out now on all streaming platforms. Listen here.
