Imaginarium Raising Funds For Ukraine At The Corn Exchange This Week

On Saturday 7th May 2022 a collective of DJs, live electronic performers, visual artists and independent retailers will host an all-day event at The Corn Exchange in Leeds from 12pm-12am, followed by an after-hours event at 212 Bar.

Putin’s unprovoked attack on the country of Ukraine continues to cause huge infrastructure destruction, loss of life, casualties and displacement of people. This fundraiser aims to provide direct financial support for those most at need. Originally envisaged by Roya Brehl and supported by The Doghouse Bar and 212 Bar, members of The Imaginarium and Leeds Corn Exchange, the event will raise funds for two charities - Action Aid Ukraine and Help Ukraine Centre, both assisting the war-affected people of Ukraine.

Money will be raised from a blind auction of donations from local artists, musicians and other creatives, a £5 entry fee to the Corn Exchange after 6PM and a percentage of profits kindly donated by vendors on the day.

Delicious West African Food is to be provided by Delice D’Ivoire and a licenced bar hosted by Doghouse Bar and Bagel Shop. Ali Cat Vintage will be hosting a stall of vintage clothing and Immortal Bloom will be contributing a thought-provoking, up-cycled, interactive art installation. Commonsense have donated t-shirts to be sold on the day with 100% of the profits going to the charities.

The auction is online now and accepting bids. Castle Fine Art have donated an original Alex Ross picture (DC comics) and there are paintings from Penny Wood and Belinda Schofield amongst pieces from other talented artists. There is also an ‘auction of things’ including items from Nigel Rodgers (Perseus Traxx) and Al Bradley (3AM Recordings).

In addition to the events on the day there will also be a supporting Bandcamp release coming soon, including tracks from Weapons of Desire, The Droid, Resampled Rhythms, Rory Flynn, John Paynter and Joe Morris.

Updates and information can be found on the Facebook event page and The Imaginarium Facebook page and website.
