London based label Gunfinger Food has been providing a solid supply of ice cold cuts since 2020. From acid and electro to breaks and trance, the label has offered wide array of cosmic sounds since it began, but founder Lex G is looking beyond to something new.
Promising bouncy beats and playful sounds of Ghettotech/Electro, Hardcore, Footwork and Jungle, Booty Frooty is a bold foray into all things up tempo. Announced as a sub label to Gunfinger Food, the project will see its first physical release this summer from the mysterious speed demon BEERUS.
On the label launch, founder Lex G said:
"This has been a long time coming and somewhat planned for over the last couple years. I had actually been hinting at it with my annual Booty Frooty mixes I was posting on my personal soundcloud. These mixes were just a place for me to play my fast paced rave records in my collection, with my love of ghetto and hardcore styles, so it naturally made sense for me to want to release music like this having already started my first label.
My personal tastes span widely across the dance music spectrum, so it can get a bit messy trying to release everything on just one label. That's why I wanted to take away from the main label focus of Electro & Breaks and dedicate something separate for this. Starting labels is always trial and error, they are projects and music we personally love and believe in, but I am very confident this will land well.’
Whilst the release is still very much under wraps, the elusive BEERUS has been confirmed as the first release and will be expected to land this summer, where 'the god of dubs will come back to earth to decide its fate once & for all". We can't wait.
There are more releases confirmed and in the pipeline, and we are very excited to witness this label unfold over the next few months.
