BabyStep Bandcamp Picks: Pussy Stamina

On March 20, as the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic was just starting to be understood, Bandcamp made the bold choice of waiving their share of revenue for artists and labels who were cancelling shows and delaying album releases left and right. The result was more music bought by more fans than any day on the site, a record broken on the first Friday of May. It is more important than ever to support music of upcoming artists on Bandcamp. We got in touch with Pussy Stamina, who is a mainstay in the Leeds music scene. The past few months has been as busy as ever for Pussy Stamina, being featured on the Spheres Of Sound compilation, as well as a standout set on Threads Radio. Here are her top bandcamp picks:

Bethlehem Casuals- The Tragedy of Street Dog

Seven piece funk/jazz/dance group from Manchester. Every time I’ve seen them it was a party. I’ve had their new album (The Tragedy of street dog) on repeat since it came out and I highly recommend it. @bethlehem.casuals

Lunar Sounds- Reputation

Big (melodic) punk energy. If you like girlbands and dancing then you’ll love Leeds’ own Lunar Sounds. A truly DIY band, recording/mixing their songs, creating YouTube content and crafting their merch. @lunarsoundsband

Duck- There Are No Normal Conversations Anymore

Synth-pop trio from Sheffield. Their songs fill my brain with so much serotonin, I feel the world needs to sample what they have to offer. The songs are catchy, the lyrics are meaningful and their shows always deliver. @duckbanduk

Lindenbaum Modular- Opus

Genuinely the coolest man I’ve ever met. He hand built all of his analogue synths, which makes him a genius. He is doing something really different and needs to be praised! If you’re into techno and heavier electro music then you’re in for a wild ride. @lindenbaum_modular

Dense- Abjection

Hard hitting Punk. Each of them are such talented musicians and always put on a show you won’t forget. Their music also bangs and you’d be silly not to check it out. I suppose It helps that they are the 3 of the soundest lads you will ever meet. @denseband
