Y U QT sign to Technicolour and release new single “Call My Name”

Y U QT have announced their signing to Technicolour, Ninja Tune’s club-focused imprint, alongside the release of their new single “Call My Name”. The track has been circulating in DJ sets for several months, becoming one of the duo’s most recognised IDs across recent shows. Built around a hybrid of speed garage and techno, it reflects the direction Darryl Reid and James Cooper have been developing through their productions and DJ sets, which heavily feature their own material.

“Call My Name” includes vocals from London singer-songwriter Jem Cooke, whose previous credits include work with CamelPhat, Jax Jones and Gorgon City. Her contribution adds a more melodic and vocal-led dimension to the track while maintaining its club focus.

The release arrives ahead of Y U QT’s April residency at Phonox in London. The four-week programme will see the pair host a curated lineup including Faster Horses, Sam Girling, Ollie Kirk, Fold, Lisa Korver, Beaabea, Royal Sun & Pry, Saint Ludo, Shuffa and Jasper Dean. The residency builds on their “Airspace” series, which has previously taken place in non-traditional venues including churches and warehouses.

In recent years, Y U QT have expanded their profile through a series of international performances. This includes three Boiler Room appearances (Melbourne, Leeds and Brisbane), as well as festival slots at Glastonbury, Parklife, Love Saves The Day, Hideout and Outlook. They also completed an Asia tour taking in Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka and Hong Kong.

Their wider catalogue includes collaborations such as “Technique” with Bullet Tooth and an official remix for Sub Focus. Outside of the project, Reid has writing credits with artists including Charli XCX and Mike Skinner, while Cooper runs a record store in Leicester.

With further releases expected in 2026 and upcoming shows including Boomtown, Baltic Weekender and Outro Festival, “Call My Name” marks the start of a new phase for the duo under the Technicolour imprint.
