Silver Man Turns Imperfection Into Gold On Cinematic New Single ‘Paint Me In Gold’

Manchester music industry veteran David Silverman steps back into the spotlight under his Silver Man moniker with evocative new single ‘Paint Me In Gold’, out now via 3 Bar Fire Records.

Known to many as the founder of Outpost Media and head of 3 Bar Fire Records, Silverman has spent decades working behind the scenes championing artists across the musical spectrum. Since launching Outpost Media in 2005, he has worked with labels including Warp, Sony, Def Jux and !K7, alongside artists such as Diplo, Mr Scruff, Nightmares On Wax, Skream, Example and Pitbull. Now, he's carving out space for his own creative vision.

His latest offering, ‘Paint Me In Gold’, is an immersive return. Opening with atmospheric synths and a striking spoken-word vocal, the track slowly builds into a hypnotic, breakbeat-driven journey that moves between moments of tension, introspection and release.

There's an intriguing story behind the track's mysterious vocal, too. Silverman discovered the original recordings online, attributed to a Scottish poet named Cass, before rearranging the fragmented words into a new narrative.

“I found the vocals randomly on Reddit,” Silverman explains. “They were all jumbled up, and I re-arranged them into some sort of meaning. So there is still a mystery as to who Cass actually is. I would like to meet her!”

At the heart of ‘Paint Me In Gold’ is a meditation on resilience and transformation. Its poetic imagery explores the possibility of reframing life's fractures as something beautiful, pairing its reflective message with cinematic electronic production that feels both haunting and quietly euphoric.

Growing up in Manchester during the 1980s, Silverman's musical identity was shaped by the city's seismic cultural landscape—from The Haçienda and its legendary house scene to the sounds of The Stone Roses and The Smiths. On ‘Paint Me In Gold’, those formative influences meet a more contemporary electronic palette, with inspiration drawn from the likes of Fred again.., DJ Shadow, Bonobo, Burial and Bicep.

Following previous support from DJ Mag, Beatport and Music News, ‘Paint Me In Gold’ signals another compelling chapter in Silver Man's return to making music—one that transforms spoken word, breakbeats and atmospheric electronics into something deeply personal.
