Ryann Ross unveils raw new single ‘Your Side Of The Moon’ ahead of debut EP

Ryann Ross is quietly emerging as one of the most arresting new voices in alt-folk — and her latest single might be her most intimate yet. The New Jersey-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has shared Your Side Of The Moon, a stripped-back, emotionally exposed offering taken from her forthcoming debut EP On The Marsh, due later this spring. Built around little more than acoustic guitar and voice, the track leans fully into Ross’ signature minimalism — where every lyric lands with weight and nothing is left to hide behind.

At its core, Your Side Of The Moon captures a painfully specific moment: seeing someone you once loved move on. As Ross explains, the song explores “the feeling of still being connected while trying to let go… even when that person won’t let you.” It’s a theme she delivers with quiet precision, her vocal performance balancing control with an unfiltered sense of vulnerability.

The single marks the latest step in a carefully unfolding introduction. Previous releases including My Thomas, Sleep Talk and Blubird have steadily built Ross’ world — one rooted in emotional honesty, sparse arrangements and a refusal to over-polish. It’s a sound that sits somewhere between alt-folk and soul, shaped as much by classic influences like Billie Holiday and Stevie Wonder as it is by modern introspective songwriting.

That sense of duality runs through On The Marsh, a debut project drawn from Ross’ early twenties and the disorientation of moving between Los Angeles, London and the English countryside. Across the EP, she explores breakups, power dynamics and the instability of starting over — all delivered through a lens that feels deeply personal but widely relatable.

Crucially, Ross’ path into music wasn’t linear. Initially training as an actor in New York, songwriting only emerged later as a way of processing personal experiences — something that still defines her approach today. Working closely with producer Levi, she has leaned into instinct over structure, allowing songs to unfold naturally rather than conforming to expectation.

With Your Side Of The Moon, that ethos is laid bare. There’s no excess, no distraction — just a voice, a story, and the space to feel it fully.

As she prepares to release On The Marsh and step onto stages for her first headline shows in Los Angeles and New York, Ryann Ross isn’t chasing volume or spectacle. Instead, she’s building something quieter — and arguably far more powerful.
