Organic New Music Friday #18
It's Friday, which means another round-up of the freshest new music. Welcome your weekend with some of the hottest producers and artists from Leeds, Manchester, London and across the pond.
Mean-e - Aw Shit (Clan Destine) [Childsplay]
Manchester-based producer Mean-e keeps them coming, with his latest electro-fulled track Aw Shit, continuing his wave of ghetto-tech bangers. With it's foot-stomping kicks, acid bassline and booty vocals, this is a tune that's itching for the dancefloor.
Aw Shit is out now on SoundCloud via Childsplay.
Mall Grab - Back 2 Back [International Chrome]
Mall Grab leads the line-up of producers collaborating on International Chromies Vol.7, another instalment of their highly successful VA series. As an Australian-based label, International Chrome will be donating profits of the compilation to The Healing Foundation & Reconciliation Australia, to stand in solitary with Invasion Day on the 26th of January. Many know this as Australia Day - a holiday where non-indigenous people celebrate the arrival of The First Fleet. However, Invasion Day is one of mourning for many, marking the beginning of the colonisation of lands.
You can listen to Back 2 Back on SoundCloud now, and purchase the VA on Bandcamp.
Shall Not Fade - Time Is Now Allstars Vol.2
A year on from the debut of the Time Is Now Allstars compilation, Shall Not Fade are retuning for round two. It celebrates the freshest up-and-coming garage producers of the moment, featuring Bakey, Interplanetary Criminal and DJ Crisps. It's set to be huge, with the expected dosage of UKG embellished with breaks, dubstep and grime. Out on the 26th of February, you can also pre-order the vinyl now. Expect big things!
You can listen to previews of Time Is Now Allstars Vol.2 on SoundCloud, with the vinyl available to pre-order on Bandcamp.
Roy Roy - Rush Off
New onto the Leeds scene are duo Roy Roy, who debuted their track Vagrant with us earlier this month - you can check out our interview with the boys here. As a suitably-chilled follow up to their first release, Rush Off is a minute-and-a-half of serenity, entwining hazy guitars with intimate vocals. The release appears timely too, as they sing of the "waves washing over again" at a time of frustration and isolation for many.
Rush Off is out now on Spotify, you can check it out below.
Van Roy - Is U Madonna [Special Blends]
As one half of Leeds-based label Gimme A Break Records, Van Roy has been making serious movements the past year. This week he joins CA$TLE and Billund The Kid as part of Special Blends' Bootleg Series. Remixing Madonna's vocals against gritty breaks and jittering baselines makes for a weekend-ready booty-house banger.
You can stream and download Is U Madonna on SoundCloud now.
Know V.A. - Artefact (Sully Remix)
Sully is at once again, remixing this track by Know V.A. with his instantly-recognisable drum patterns and drops.
You can listen to this remix on SoundCloud and purchase on Bandcamp.
