Red Hot Chilli Peppers' John Frusciante Shares Single From Upcoming Jungle Album

Heading for release on Timesig on 23rd October, 'Maya' is Red Hot Chilli Peppers' John Frusciante's latest project, and is one that has diverted away drastically from his known sound. Introducing sounds of jungle, breakbeat, and hardcore, the album will exhibit a turbulent foray into the realm of electronic music, and we are certainly excited about it.

Along with an accompanying music video comes new single 'Brand-E', which, aside from the jungle percussion rhythms, has very little consistency. That is far from a criticism, as the track bends and swirls between various sections that contain dramatically different synths and sounds. It's a bit of journey, and it's something quite different. With a soft and unassuming opening, 'Brand E' goes on to meander craftily between chopped vocals, metallic synths patterns, and even a final acid section in the closing bars of the song.

Frusciante himself makes an appearance in the video as he gazes out across the hills, whilst an eery bewildered girl navigates a Bladerunner-esque cityscape. It's quite the spectacle, and one that we hope sets the tone for the rest of the album which will be out later this month.
