BabyStep's New Music Friday #4

Welcome to this weeks New Music Friday, a weekly column where every Friday Joe Childs fills us in on what had been release this Friday day, always bringing a medley of styles, genres and artists to the table. We hope you've taken our advice and steered clear of pubs as much as possible. This week has been a slightly more upbeat one for the creative community with the government having unveiled a £1.57bn support package to help protect the futures of UK theatres, galleries, museums and other cultural venues. The Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden explained how new grants and loans aim to preserve "crown jewels" in the UK's art sector as well as local venues. In other news From Saturday 11th July, festivals, open-air gigs and theatre performances will be allowed to take place following the release of new regulations from the government. In order to test how these would work, a series of pilot events are to take place. Once there is more news on how these pilot events go, we as a magazine will be looking at ways to get going again on the events front.

Michael Kiwanuka - Final Days (Bonobo Remix)

After two Brit award nominations and the critical rapture that greeted Michael Kiwanuka’s third album – Kiwanuka, which reached No 2 in November – this should be the 32-year-old singer-songwriter’s victory lap. Not a bit of it. He's back again, this time letting Bonobo do his thing on this stunning re-work.

KAYTRANADA – “Look Easy” (Feat. Lucky Daye)

Kaytranada still hasn’t announced anything about another album. But today, he’s back with a brand new single, “Look Easy,” a smooth-as-hell synth shimmer featuring vocals from singer Lucky Daye.

James Blake- Are You Even Real?

Blake produced the song, which he co-wrote with songwriters Starrah, Ali Tamposi and Peter Lee Johnson. It was recorded across Burbank, Los Angeles and New York.

Pearson Sound - Alien Mode

As if to make up for lost time, Hessle Audio today released two EPs, the label's first since 2018. Both slam in different ways. On Like This, Pangaea continues on his quest to make the world's fruitiest banger. Pearson Sound is simply out to contort limbs and minds.
