The Pleasure Dome Release "Your Fucking Smile" and Announce Upcoming EP 'Liminal Space'

Bristol-based post-punk trio The Pleasure Dome are back with a vengeance, debuting their blistering new single "Your Fucking Smile" from the upcoming EP 'Liminal Space.' Known for their raw energy and high-intensity live performances, the band continues to push boundaries with this latest offering, delivering a potent mix of furious punk and dissonant sounds.

The single, which follows the success of their acclaimed debut album, serves as a bridge between the past and the future. Vocalist and guitarist Bobby Spender described "Your Fucking Smile" as an experiment in exploring darker, heavier sounds. "I was really into Bernard Herrmann, who composed the score for Psycho," Spender explained. "It uses tritones, the devil's intonation, very dissonant-sounding. I thought it would be perfect with our signature speed and aggression."

Lyrically, the track delves into the complexities of a relationship gone wrong. Spender revealed that the song originated from a poem he wrote about a past relationship, where love and insecurities mixed, leading to heartbreak. "Some people make you feel terrible about yourself when all you want is to share love," he shared. The intensity of the music matches the emotional turbulence of the lyrics, creating a sonic experience that is both chaotic and cathartic.

'Liminal Space' represents a period of transition for The Pleasure Dome, as the band restructured after the departure of both their drummer and bassist. Spender, the remaining original member, used this time of upheaval to craft a collection of songs that are both personal and powerful. The band has since recruited Loz Fancourt on bass and Harry Flowers on drums, and recorded the new EP with producer James Trevascus, known for his work with Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, and The Lemon Twigs.

In addition to the new single, The Pleasure Dome have announced a string of live dates for 2024. Their high-octane performances have earned them a dedicated following, with praise from publications like CLASH, The Line Of Best Fit, and Louder Than War. The band will be headlining shows in London and Bristol in May, offering fans a chance to experience their electrifying stage presence firsthand.

The upcoming EP, 'Liminal Space,' is now available for pre-order on vinyl, and promises to be the band's most ambitious project to date. With tracks like "Your Fucking Smile," The Pleasure Dome continue to solidify their status as one of the most exciting acts in the post-punk scene.
