Adelaide/Kaurna producer Strict Face has announced his forthcoming EP Age of Burnout, arriving 7 August via NLV Records, alongside the release of its blistering lead single, Ode To The Meatheads.
A relentless fusion of modular synthesis, fractured club rhythms and razor-sharp percussion, Ode To The Meatheads continues Strict Face's uncompromising approach to electronic music. Inspired by the energy of Boyz Noize, Errorsmith and the boundary-pushing output of Timedance, the track imagines an unlikely meeting point between gym culture and experimental club music. As Strict Face puts it: "Brainless after the office, but make it Braindance."
The single serves as the first taste of Age of Burnout, an EP that reflects on modern life through themes of burnout, political unrest, digital overload and the increasingly disorientating pace of online culture. Building on the foundations of his acclaimed 2025 album Severe Forward, the new record continues to blur the lines between modular techno, the British bass continuum, kuduro, batida and bubbling, while drawing inspiration from the legacy of Thomas Bangalter's Roulé and contemporary innovators including Timedance and Fever AM.
For more than 15 years, Strict Face has carved out a singular space within underground electronic music. Emerging during instrumental grime's second wave before expanding into an eclectic catalogue spanning club music, experimental electronics and pop-leaning production, he has released on influential labels including Different Circles and Gobstopper, while becoming a core artist on Australia's NLV Records.
His meticulous yet explosive productions have earned widespread acclaim, with Crack Magazine praising his "exhilarating genre mutations", Resident Advisor highlighting his ability to effortlessly traverse Miami bass, Jersey club and UK funky, and triple j describing his work as "a masterclass in meticulous sonic construction that sounds like a blast."
Alongside a growing reputation as a producer, Strict Face has become one of Australia's most respected selectors, receiving support from DJs including Skrillex, Jamz Supernova, DJ Plead and Lena Willikens, while sharing line-ups with Ben UFO, Eris Drew, Chloé Robinson, Special Request and Jossy Mitsu.
With Age of Burnout, Strict Face distils years of experimentation into his boldest statement yet—one that captures the intensity, absurdity and exhilaration of contemporary club culture while refusing to compromise on originality.
Age of Burnout is released on 7 August via NLV Records. Ode To The Meatheads is available to stream now.
