SILVERBIRD RELEASE THEIR UPLIFTING ROCK-REGGAE HYBRID ‘HOLD ON TIGHT’I

ree

Independent to their core, Silverbird are a band who do it all — from songwriting and recording to production, artwork, and release. Their latest single, ‘Hold On Tight’, is a heartfelt rock-reggae hybrid written by Otto as a marriage proposal, celebrating love, unity, and the promise of staying together forever. Blending the warmth of reggae with the drive of rock and folk influences, the song perfectly captures the group’s signature balance of sincerity and independence.

We caught up with Silverbird to discuss the story behind ‘Hold On Tight’, the spiritual connection between marriage and reggae, and what it means to create music entirely on their own terms.

‘Hold On Tight’ is described as a rock-reggae hybrid with an uplifting feel. What inspired this song, and how did the reggae elements come into play?

This song is about marrying and staying together forever. A marriage always has something spiritual and reggae songs often too. Therefore, it was obvious to bring reggae elements into the song.

Otto wrote this song as a marriage proposal—how did that personal story shape the recording and performance of the track?

Originally, the song was conceived as a ballad, which fits the theme. But then came the idea with the reggae concept and the song was recorded with typical reggae elements instead of acoustic guitar.

Silverbird handles everything independently, from songwriting to production and cover art. How does managing every aspect of your music influence your creative process?

The beauty of indie music is that you are completely free to decide when to take the next step in the song creation process and how to implement it. Decisive for us is what is useful for the song. That means we won't let anyone put us in a corset.

Your style blends rock, folk, pop, and even heavy metal. How do you navigate these diverse influences while maintaining a cohesive sound?

It all comes naturally, without us thinking about it while composing, writing, and producing. We always sound like Silverbird.

How do you hope listeners connect with ‘Hold On Tight,’ and what do you want people to take away from your music more broadly?

This song comes from the heart, and we hope its honesty resonates with listeners. We hope our other songs will resonate just as well, and that we'll find more and more listeners for our music.
