redolent Return with New Single "ok wow" and Documentary Chronicling Their Remarkable Rise

Fresh from winning the Scottish Album of the Year Award for their acclaimed debut dinny greet, Edinburgh electronic-indie outfit redolent have made their long-awaited return with the emotionally charged new single "ok wow".
Their first release since 2024, "ok wow" is a slow-burning blend of fragile piano melodies, glitchy electronics and pulsing breakbeats. Frontman Robin Herbert explores the aftermath of an argument that has gone too far, reflecting on guilt and regret with heartfelt honesty. "'ok wow' is about going too far in a scrap with someone and being sat alone in silence with your wrongness in the aftermath," he explains.
The release is accompanied by a striking new music video and an ambitious self-produced feature-length documentary that tells the extraordinary story behind one of Scotland's most unlikely success stories.
Formed in Edinburgh in 2012, redolent spent almost a decade quietly writing music before finding wider recognition. Their fortunes changed dramatically in 2021 when Herbert's unexpected financial windfall during the GameStop stock market phenomenon helped keep the band alive, allowing them to continue pursuing music full-time.
That same year, their EP Make Big Money Fast Online Now caught the attention of Columbia Records, leading to a major label deal. Although the partnership was ultimately short-lived, the experience fuelled the creation of dinny greet, which went on to win the prestigious Scottish Album of the Year Award in 2024.
The newly released documentary explores that remarkable journey—from the GameStop short squeeze and a major label signing, to being dropped and ultimately returning stronger than ever. Written, filmed, directed, edited and scored entirely by the band alongside producer George Cuthbert, with animation by Joe Langsworthy, the film offers an intimate look at a band whose story is every bit as compelling as their music.
With "ok wow" marking the beginning of a new chapter, redolent have hinted that much more is to come in 2026.
