Olivia Miceli: Tracks That Shaped My Sound

Olivia Miceli is an indie singer-songwriter and producer from the UK whose passion for music has driven her to explore the technical side of recording and producing. Since 2020, she has been sharing her tunes on major streaming platforms, captivating audiences with her heartfelt and relatable music.

Last year, Olivia's debut album, ‘Nostalgic Heartbreak,’ garnered international attention, resonating with listeners across the UK, Italy, and even as far as Australia. Now, she’s back with her latest single, ‘Guys Like You!,’ a bedroom pop track that she wrote, recorded, and produced in her room. Released on July 19th, this song is the perfect soundtrack for the summer.

In addition to ‘Guys Like You!,’ Olivia recently released ‘The Chaos of Growing Up’ on June 7th, another testament to her ability to create music that speaks to the experiences and emotions of her listeners. Join us as we delve into Olivia's creative journey, her inspirations, and what’s next for this rising indie star.

Smile - Lily Allen

I first remember hearing this song when I was watching MTV in my living room. What stood out to me most back then was the lilting melody and blasé tone in the vocals, but as I’ve grown up listening to Lily Allen’s music I find myself more and more inspired by the amount of attitude in the lyrics, the contrast between the bold ‘tell-‘em where to go’ stories over the laid-back melodies. This definitely inspired the way that I used lyrics to tell the story of Guys Like You!

Good Luck Babe - Chappell Roan

Immediately when I heard this song I loved it, its upbeat energy and the retro synths. When the chorus hits in Guys Like You!, the synths really kick in, mirroring the vocal melody and bringing it to life.

Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani

I grew up listening to Gwen Stefani and have always felt she has a sound unmatched by any other artist. The 00s sound is prominent in Hollaback Girl, and the constant beat and gang vocals really inspired the sound for Guys Like You!

Please Please Please - Sabrina Carpenter

Just the pure boldness of this song made me want to be able to write something as jaw-droppingly self-confident. I really love the rise in the amount of pop music reaching the charts recently, and I hope that Guys Like You! gives off that same fierce energy.
