After months of speculation, Marshall has officially unveiled the 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong Artist Signature amplifier—the company's first signature amp in 14 years. The announcement follows the amp's surprise appearance behind the Green Day frontman during the band's performance at the 2026 Super Bowl, where eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed the striking baby-blue Marshall head and began questioning whether a signature model was on the horizon.
Developed in collaboration with Armstrong, the handwired 100-watt 1959BJA builds on Marshall's iconic 1959HW platform while incorporating the modified "Dookie Mod" circuit that helped define Green Day's era-defining guitar sound. Designed to deliver more gain, tighter low-end and the saturated crunch synonymous with Dookie, the amp recreates the unmistakable tone that propelled the band into punk rock history.
Visually, the amplifier pays tribute to Armstrong's legendary first guitar, Blue, featuring a distinctive baby-blue finish, brass and silver detailing, custom branding and the guitarist's signature across the front and rear panels.
"I'm so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp," says Billie Joe Armstrong. "These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the f**k up!!"
Marshall's Culture Marketing Director, Steph Carter, added: "Billie Joe's guitar sound is instantly recognisable. From the moment you hear those opening chords on Dookie, you know exactly who it is. Working with Billie to create an amp that captures that punch, aggression and clarity was an incredible project for our team."
Handwired in the UK, the head-only amplifier features a single channel with Presence, Gain, Master Volume and three-band EQ controls, powered by three ECC83 preamp valves and four EL34 power valves. The release continues Marshall's long-standing relationship with Armstrong, who most recently fronted the brand's Monitor III ANC headphones campaign.
The Marshall 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong Artist Signature amplifier launches 21 July via authorised Marshall retailers and marshall.com, priced at £3,099.99 / $3,999.99 / €3,699.
The launch also ties into Marshall Amplify, the company's grassroots music initiative, through which Marshall commits an amount equal to one percent of member purchases made via marshall.com towards supporting independent music venues.
