“The Star Lounge” introduces a bold new era for MAB. What moment or realization sparked this creative shift, and how does this track embody where you’re headed artistically?

INTERDIMENSIONAL, the project I’ve been working on since January of 2024, was born in a tipi in the Sacred Valley of Peru during an ayahuasca ceremony. Since then, my goal has been to become a more boundless creator and add new dimensions to my craft. THE STAR LOUNGE was the first hip-hop track I’ve released and while I don’t plan to be bound by one genre, it has definitely encouraged me to continue fueling this fire.

Your new single blends Psychedelic Hip-Hop, Psychedelic Pop, and Dance-Pop into a really immersive, dream-state atmosphere. How did your recent viral content and themes of escapism shape the sonic universe of this track?

All of my creatives typically start with the music so in this case, it was the other way around. The sonic experience of THE STAR LOUNGE was the foundation of the viral content that came after the creation of the track. I always strive to create music that has the power to transport the listener to another world so to speak.

The story of MAB carries deep emotional roots, especially with the legacy of Alex Katz. In what ways does ‘The Star Lounge’ continue to honor that legacy while pushing your sound forward?

One of the biggest dreams that Alex and I shared was to combat the cancerous energy and music that is being pumped into mainstream media with creative music and entertainment that elevates the human spirit. THE STAR LOUNGE and the content created around it has been aligned with these aspirations, creating a new realm of hip hop and unique content that has lifted the spirits of millions of people across the globe.

You wrote, produced, and performed the track yourself alongside producer Caden Jester. What was the most transformative or surprising part of the creative process in bringing “The Star Lounge” to life?

The inception of THE STAR LOUNGE was definitely the most surprising part of the creative process. In May of 2024, two of my close childhood friends and I ate magical mushrooms and began our hike up Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. About halfway up the mountain, out of nowhere “Welcome to the mmm (sniff sniff) yeahhh” just flew into my head with the melody and rhythm intact. With over 39K monthly listeners and a new campaign ahead, what can fans expect from this next chapter of MAB—both sonically and visually—as you expand this new world you’re building?

I plan to travel through Mexico, Europe and Southeast Asia this winter to promote the release of INTERDIMENSIONAL. I aspire to create content in some of the most beautiful and iconic locations in the world in order to continue building a platform that welcomes people from all corners of the planet. Musically, I will continue to search for sounds and stories that come from a higher power. I’m hoping this project and movement builds enough hype to start touring the world.
