Berlin-based art-rock shapeshifters Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys return on December 5th with “Woolf”, the spellbinding third single from their forthcoming seventh studio album Pale Bloom, out February 13th 2026 via Unique Records.
Renowned for their dark, immersive soundscapes, the band continues to push their sonic world outward. “Woolf” opens with intimate, fragile vocals before blooming into a rush of layered harmonies, driving guitars and viola. Kruger’s voice fractures and multiplies, echoing across eras as she channels the spirit of Virginia Woolf — a conversation between past and present, resistance and release.“Heaven is twisting / fraying / bending / ageing … heaven is brutal baby” she sings, as the track swells into a beautifully chaotic climax.
Kruger describes the song as “a twisted sort of love letter — or a summoning… to a godless void, to Virginia, to the patriarchy, to my past self.” Its four shifting chapters mirror the tension of trying to pull multiple selves into a single timeline — a challenge music solves more easily than life.
“Woolf” offers the clearest window yet into Pale Bloom, a record that reaches further back than any Lost Boys release to date. Drawing on childhood memory, inherited melodies, and the rigid structures of a religious upbringing, the album reshapes old rhythms into something personal, mythic and defiantly alive. Strings take on a solemn weight, guitars wander through vast open spaces, and Kruger’s voice moves between euphoria and lament.
Recorded between Berlin studios with longtime collaborator André Leo and mixed by Simon Ratcliffe, Pale Bloom features Lucy Kruger (voice, guitar), Liú Mottes (guitar), Jean-Louise Parker (viola), Gidon Carmel (drums) and Reuben Kemp (bass).
With years of relentless touring behind them — including appearances at The Great Escape, SXSW, Reeperbahn, Roadburn, MENT, and more — Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys are now set to bring Pale Bloom to UK stages next spring. Known for their intensely atmospheric live shows, the band will begin their run in Manchester on March 24th 2026.
‘Woolf’ is out December 5th on all streaming platforms. Pale Bloom follows on February 13th 2026.
