Hot on the heels of their sun-drenched collab ‘Not Checkers’, UK producer Laurence Guy and LA’s Jean Carter reunite for another genre-blurring gem. Their latest track, ‘Don’t Wanna Wait’, is a full-blown summer anthem — a slick blend of French touch finesse, hazy analog warmth, and soul-soaked vocals that’s destined to soundtrack the season.
Out now via Future Classic, the single is a clear nod to the golden era of vocal house. “It’s a homage to the massive vocal/French house bangers that were on the radio when I was a kid,” says Guy. “This is pure good times music and should be played as often and as loud as possible.”
Jean Carter’s dreamy topline floats effortlessly over laid-back drum grooves and rich, sun-bleached textures, delivering a track that’s both euphoric and emotionally resonant — classic Laurence Guy. It’s the latest in a prolific run for the South London-based producer, who’s fresh off an official remix for Justice & RIMON’s ‘Afterimage’ (earning spins across BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music), and a standout EP Too Far To Come Back with J. Peacock on Shall Not Fade. Recent releases like The Morning ft. Surya Sen and You Might Be Closer Than You Think further show Guy’s knack for fusing deep dancefloor sensibilities with real emotional weight.
Laurence Guy’s genre-hopping output continues to win fans across the globe, with support from Jamie xx, Diplo, Solomun, Groove Armada, salute, A-Trak and more. With over 80 million streams to his name and sets at the likes of Glastonbury, Printworks, and L’Olympia, he’s firmly cemented his place as one of the UK’s most compelling electronic artists.
