Devra Shares Hip-Hop Infused Jazz Single ‘Vondelpark Bop’ Ahead of New EP ‘On the Way’

Italy’s drummer, producer, and composer Devra—aka Fabio De Angelis—continues his forward momentum with the release of the single ‘Vondelpark Bop’ today, October 1st, ahead of his forthcoming EP ‘On the Way’, out December 5th via Root Records.

The track sees Devra team up with acclaimed UK trumpeter Jackson Mathod, delivering a sun-soaked, hip-hop flavoured contemporary jazz cut inspired by Amsterdam’s iconic Vondelpark. Channeling the spirit of Roy Hargrove’s RH Factor and Robert Glasper, the collaboration brims with emotive rhythmic interplay and groove-driven improvisation. “This was co-written with Jackson, someone I really admire and with whom I had a great connection from the start,” Devra explains.

‘Vondelpark Bop’ follows the tone set by earlier singles ‘Mill Street Samba’ and ‘On the Way’, the latter a vocal-driven track reflecting the passion and commitment needed to push creativity forward. Across the EP, Devra brings together international collaborators including Californian beatmaker Paul Grant and Hamburg-based producer The Offline, crafting a project that celebrates moments of transition and personal meaning, each track informed by places that resonate with the artists involved.

Originally from Vicenza, Devra has steadily carved out a distinctive space in contemporary jazz, moving from session work in Italy to international acclaim. His previous self-titled EP found strong support from Jazz FM, Soho Radio, and key Italian tastemakers like DLSO, establishing him as a forward-thinking voice in groove-based, jazz-inflected production.

‘On the Way’ promises to take listeners on a journey through Devra’s evolving sound, fusing jazz, hip-hop, and global rhythms into a singular, vibrant statement.
