Dandelion confronts the scars of love on haunting new single ‘Scissors’

Stockholm singer, songwriter and artist Dandelion has released new single Scissors, the emotionally charged second preview of her forthcoming debut album My Sadness Needs Your Full Attention.

Out today via EMI Sweden / Universal Music Nordics, Scissors turns the idea of cutting ties with the past on its head. Written from the perspective of entering a new relationship while trying not to drag old wounds along with you, the song explores the frustration of discovering that healing is anything but a clean break.

“Healing isn’t rewriting your history,” Dandelion says. “You can’t cut out the parts of yourself you wish had never happened.”

The track’s stark writing is matched by an uneasy, atmospheric production, with images of sleepless nights, addiction, shadows and repetition creating a sense of emotional loops that refuse to disappear. Lines such as “same crowd, different makeup” and “same tears, different breakup” underline the song’s central tension: changing your circumstances doesn’t necessarily mean escaping your past.

Interestingly, Scissors began in an intensely domestic setting. Written four years ago in the first apartment Dandelion shared with her partner Zacke, the song took shape with Dandelion at the piano outside the bathroom while the pair exchanged lines as he stood in the shower.

The result is a song about the impossibility of simply fixing yourself for someone else — and the eventual realisation that acceptance may be more powerful than erasure.

Scissors follows previous single ONONON, which introduced Dandelion’s new era and earned early international attention from outlets including Wonderland Magazine, MTV UK, Official Charts and Euphoria Magazine.

Together, the two tracks offer a first glimpse of My Sadness Needs Your Full Attention, an ambitious debut that will arrive in two parts. Part I lands on October 30, with Part II following in spring 2027.

Known for her cinematic alternative pop, Dandelion has already built an impressive songwriting résumé, having written for artists including Bebe Rexha, Katy Perry, SOFI TUKKER, Griff and UPSAHL. Now stepping fully into her own spotlight, she is turning that experience into a deeply personal project exploring heartbreak, identity, mental health and belonging.

With Scissors, Dandelion isn’t promising a neat recovery. Instead, she’s embracing the mess — and refusing to cut herself free from the experiences that made her.
