British Soulstress Phoenix Laoutaris Reclaims Her Sense of Self on R&B Single "Here We Go"

Phoenix Laoutaris is stepping into a new era with “Here We Go” — a funk-laced R&B cut that sees the British soulstress trade self-doubt for clarity, confidence and a sharper sense of self.

Opening with the striking admission, “Talkin’ to myself again / Cause I lost all my friends since you came around,” Phoenix’s honeyed vocals glide over a slick, groove-heavy production before giving way to a swaggering, rap-leaning edge. The result is soulful, gritty and effortlessly cool, capturing the moment you finally recognise that you’ve outgrown what’s been holding you back.

Following July’s “About You”, which landed on Audiomack’s +44 R&B cover alongside support from VIBE, NME, VIPER and Atwood Magazine, “Here We Go” pushes Phoenix’s evolving sound further. Where “About You” explored the excitement of possibility, this latest release looks back with hindsight — and sounds all the more powerful for it.

Born and raised in Totnes, Devon, Phoenix first made her mark with 2021 debut “Flowers”, released via WEAREBLK. The track earned praise from CLASH Magazine, alongside BBC Radio 1 support from Jack Saunders, DJ Target and René LaVice, establishing Phoenix as one of the UK’s most compelling emerging soul voices.

Now, with “Here We Go”, she’s carving out a sound that feels entirely her own — blending alternative soul, R&B, hip-hop and jazz with warmth, attitude and a little grit. As recent praise from 1883 Magazine, Ones To Watch and The Luna Collective makes clear, Phoenix is an artist increasingly comfortable sitting somewhere between tenderness and toughness.

If “About You” opened the door to this new chapter, “Here We Go” kicks it wide open.
