London duo Babeheaven return on July 25 with Beloved, their first release in nearly four years, and the lead track from forthcoming EP Slower Than Sound, out October 24 via the boundary-pushing label Scenic Route.
A quietly powerful reintroduction, Beloved finds vocalist Nancy Andersen and producer Jamie Travis returning to their roots—writing and recording together in the attic of Nancy’s home. The song began as Nancy’s first solo demo, drawing on acoustic textures and a minimal, meditative palette to explore themes of grief, memory, and presence. “Beloved is kind of a myth, a person, a place, a feeling… someone who’s gone but still present,” Nancy says.
After a period marked by burnout, cancelled tours, and time away from the spotlight, Beloved is a soft reset—emotional but unfussy, shaped by stillness and deep connection. “It came together quickly and naturally,” Jamie adds. “Just the two of us in a small room, like when we first started.”
The single lands ahead of Babeheaven’s August 1 live show at MOTH Club, supporting Jack J, and alongside the announcement of the Slower Than Sound EP, set for full release in October. A second single, Picture This, will follow on September 23.
Babeheaven’s return comes via Scenic Route, recently dubbed “underground music’s most exciting label” by The Face. With a track record for spotlighting genre-defying voices at the edge of experimental pop and electronic music, the label provides a fitting new home for the duo’s quietly radical evolution.
