American Woman “Tracks That Shaped Our Sound”
American women is an indie rock four piece based in Los Angeles. They formed in July 2023 and played their first show in September that same year. Playing shows from Santa Barbara, San Fernando Valley, and even Long Beach, they're adamant on sharing thir sound throughout California. We spoke to them about the tracks that shaped their sound:
1.Arctic Monkeys - Still Take You Home
The sound of soloed distorted guitar was something I wanted in a song.
2.Bayside – Indiana
Our guitarist used to sing Out the Window originally. The verse melody used to sound similar to the one in this song, but the ‘spaced out words’ feel was moved to the chorus!
3.Bayside – Masterpiece
This one is a bit of an odd one out. I didn’t realize how much of an effect the mix of a song effects the sound of it, until I (guitarist) started producing. The mix of Out the Window was inspired by this song, with the aggression in the drums for the verses!
4. Samba Drum Tutorial
There was no song that inspired our drummer, however he was learning about samba beats when we asked him to write drums for this song.
