Coca-Cola and Carlsberg Back Plant- Based Bottles That Will Degrade In Just A Year
Dutch biochemical company Avantium have recently developed a new plant-based bottle design that is now being backed by companies such as Coca Cola and Carlsberg. These new bottles require no fossil fuels, and will degrade in just a year.
It is hoped that these new bottles will be on the shelves by 2023, and will potentially lead the way in dramatically slicing down the rate at which non-biodegradable plastics are released into the ocean. Avantium will be using plant sugars from sustainably sourced bio-waste, therefore leaving the global food supply chain unaffected.
