Twist Helix tease upcoming album with eccentric alt-pop tune ‘Frida Kahlo’

July 6, 2020

‘Frida Kahlo’ is the latest single from eclectic Newcastle three-piece Twist Helix, a catchy alt-
pop anthem with synth infusion and intelligent Spanglish lyrics. The song is a taster of what’s to come on the group’s upcoming second studio album ‘Machinery’, whose singles thus far have already turned the heads of some of the biggest names in the industry. Twist Helix have amassed fans and radio play across the UK, and it’s easy to see why.

On ‘Frida Kahlo’, lead singer Bea Garcia delivers energetic arena-sized vocals amidst
memorable electronic hooks and new-wave inspired production which lifts the track to soaring
heights. The lyrical content of ‘Frida Kahlo’ centers around the concept of identity in the
contemporary age, and according to the band, “is not so much about Frida herself but how the
mass consumption of images deviates from a true understanding of the self in favour of the
popular, current, now.”

Representing the drive and charisma of a talented group, ‘Frida Kahlo’ sheds a light on their
unique musical style and promising future.
