Brian Eno and Massive Attack join call to end Israel's blockade on Gaza amid the pandemic

Over 200 artists have plead for Israel to lift its siege on the embattled Gaza Strip, signing a letter that demands Israel lift their embargo on Gaza amid fears that its two million inhabitants, are under more danger than ever, with a heightened risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The letter was published Wednesday, marking two years after Israel killed 60 protestors in Gaza. The 200 artists included electronic musicians Brian Eno, Massive Attack, , Luke Younger (Helm) and Hiro Kone. The letter specifically calls for Israel to lift the siege "long before the global outbreak of COVID-19 threatened to overwhelm the already devastated healthcare system in Gaza, the UN had predicted that the blockaded coastal strip would be unliveable by 2020. With the pandemic, Gaza’s almost two million inhabitants, predominantly refugees, face a mortal threat in the world’s largest open-air prison."

The protests will continue until an international military embargo until Israel fully complies with the rights guaranteed to refugees under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. You can read the full letter HERE.
